Tactical NAV: Born from the battlefield, refined for your mission. 🇺🇸 Created during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Tactical NAV emerged as the premier MGRS-focused navigation app, now available on all app stores. Developed by a U.S. Army Field Artillery officer, Capt. Jonathan J. Springer, this app was envisioned as a low-cost, highly accurate mobile navigation solution tailored for the U.S. military. His dedication to this project began in the rugged terrains of the Pech and Korengal Valleys, driven by a commitment to honor fallen comrades and support those serving.
The app's development was a direct response to the loss of Spc. Blair D. Thompson and Spc. Jared C. Plunk, showcasing Capt. Springer's resolve to make a difference. Despite initial setbacks, he persevered, funding the project with his own savings to ensure its availability. Tactical NAV’s primary goal is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of military personnel both at home and abroad. 🚀
Launched on February 14, 2011, Tactical NAV is built for accuracy, matching the performance of the AN/PSN-13 Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR). It empowers service members with a robust mobile navigation platform, supporting their operational needs in training and combat. Rigorously tested against systems like Nett Warrior, ATAK, and BFT, Tactical NAV stands within 1 meter accuracy of these DoD-approved systems. 🎯
Tactical NAV offers in-app purchases and subscriptions, including tactical drawing mode and offline mapping, with proceeds contributing to development and donations to disabled veterans' charities. 💖 Key features include a military-quality precision targeting platform, offline mapping, WGS-84 standard coordinates, tactical drawing, waypoint plotting, and a compass 'FastLock' function. Additional functionalities encompass photo capture, location sharing, night mode, and a 'Go to Grid' feature, all rigorously tested for reliability. 💯
Important Note: Tactical NAV is not endorsed by the Department of Defense and should not replace government-issued devices in critical situations.
